Members of the Library Tree Lane committee were thrilled to present a check in the amount of $20,000 to the Henderson Library Board of Trustees at Thursday morning's meeting. This money represents the profits from the Library Tree Lane Boutique in November and December 2022 as well as craft fairs held through 2022.

During the Library Tree Lane Boutique, which was held from November 18 to December 17, we sold over 250 baskets, displayed 3 sponsored trees and several sponsored wreaths and offered an exciting raffle.

We are grateful to those who donated items for the baskets, volunteered their time and talents, sponsored trees and wreaths and made financial donations as well of course to those who shopped the boutique sale. A special thanks to Julie Buckley for leading Library Tree Lane again in 2022 and to Diane Collins for her tireless work through the year.

The money raised will be used for materials and programs for Henderson Libraries' patrons.

June 2022 6/16/2022

The Friends of Henderson Library were thrilled to present the Henderson Library Board of Trustees with a check for $30,000 which represents monies raised in 2021 from books sales, donations and memberships.

The majority of the money raised was from the Paseo Verde Book Store and Used Book Sales. The team led by Leslie Finzer, worked hard in 2021 to set up the new Paseo Verde Book Store and organize the very successful books sales. They all deserve a big round of applause. It is due to their commitment and efforts that we raised so much money for Henderson Libraries.

Working with Leslie Finzer is a wonderful team. The list includes Judy Pringle, John Kirk, and Patti Martin, who work several days a week to sort donations, restock PVL bookstore and handle assorted PVL Book Sale duties. Nancy Hugus, Connie Miller and Billy Kersh who restock PVL bookstore weekly. Jackie Miller, Ray Kubovchik, Philip Fenner who help set up and breakdown quarterly book sales. And last but not least the numerous Book Sale Buddies who regularly cashier our quarterly book sales. Some have been with the team for YEARS and work one or more shifts per sale.

We can't say thank you to all of these wonderful people loud or often enough. The Board of Trustees was very appreciative of the funds. This money will be used to fund materials and programs for all Henderson Library patrons to enjoy.

Think of the Possibilities! 1/1/2018

As we start a new year, the word that comes to mind is possibilities. It is possible that this year each of us will stick to our New Year’s Resolutions, no matter what the goal – be healthier, more organized, achieve more personal enrichment. It is possible that the concerns of the prior year, will seem less problematic. The new year opens opportunities for positive possibilities in all our lives.

As I start my term as President of Friends of Henderson Libraries, I believe in many possibilities for our organization. It is possible to raise more money for materials and programming. It is possible to expand our volunteer support to allow Henderson Libraries to offer more to its patrons. It Is possible for us to provide opportunities for training and development for the library staff both individually and across the organization. Collectively it is more than possible for Friends of Henderson Libraries to leverage our solid foundation from past years to grow in 2018.

As the newest president of Friends of Henderson Libraries, I am blessed to work side by side with a dedicated board who believes in the mission of Henderson Libraries and recognizes the value of this important resource to the local community. I am honored to lead the board and work with such a fabulous team. Friends of Henderson is committed to building on our past success in 2018. Just think of the possibilities!

Before I end my first article, I wanted to acknowledge Marian Brown who has led Friends of Henderson Libraries for the last 4 ½ years. Under Marian, our organization has expanded its volunteer base and dramatically increased the annual donation to Henderson Libraries. As a board member on Marian’s team, I appreciated her can do attitude, and willingness to try new ideas. Her leadership created a culture of positive collaboration. Marian recognized working together is the best path for success. The good news is we will be to continue to leverage Marian’s skills and expertise in her role as Past President.

I wish you the very best in the new year and look forward to working together to support Henderson Libraries. Your many contributions are recognized and appreciated by all of us on the Friend’s board every day. Happy 2018!
