Our Vision and Mission Statement
Who We Are
The Friends of Henderson Libraries are persons who value libraries as centers of lifelong learning and leisure. Friends contribute money and/or time to support library services and programs.
Our Vision
The Friends of Henderson Libraries envisions a strong and ongoing partnership
with the Henderson libraries—a partnership that has unlimited potential
for expanding and enriching informational, educational, cultural, and
recreational opportunities in the Henderson community.
Our Mission
The Friends of Henderson Libraries engages in a threefold mission:
- advocacy
- communication, and
- support
Advocacy
Friends champions the development, growth, and improvement of library
resources, services, and facilities.
Communication
- Friends promotes community awareness and understanding of library
resources and functions.
- Friends exchanges ideas and information that allow for sound decisions
and successful outcomes.
Support
- Friends enlists monetary and in-kind resources for the District
from organizations and individual members of the community.
- Friends defines and implements the volunteer roles that assists
in satisfying District needs.
- Friends funds projects, mutually agreed upon with the District staff,
through annual allocations, one-time grants, and local, state and
national parnerships.
Our Priorities
Friends had three priorities for 2008:
- to establish a steady income and operating budget
- to communicate more effectively
- to increase active membership—both those who pledge financial support and those who pledge volunteer hours.
Friends supports programs such as Reading with Rover and the Summer
Reading Program.

If we are to be as wise as we are strong, then we need
more wise men, reading more good books in
more new libraries. |
